Water scarcity: Bethpora residents in Bandipora hit streets blocked Sumbal-Sopore road The residents of Bethpora Naidkhai village of North Kashmir’s Bandipora district held a protest against water scarcity in their village-blocked Sumbal-Sopore road on Saturday.
The protesters made authorities responsible for water scarcity in the area and alleged that they were struggling to get drinking water in life. Speaking with the reporters, a woman Protester said that for the last 10 days, the villagers have been forced to fetch dirty water from nearby streams.
She also said that the authorities and employees of the jal shakti department are giving us damn excuses for unscheduled power cuts which affect our daily livelihood. We did not have another source of water here in our village, we had to travel km’s in the absence of a tap water facility to bring water for our daily needs.
After official’s intervention and assurance, the protest had been called off.
